In an\u00a0interview<\/a> with Tucker Carlson, tech millionaire Steve Kirsch argues that a Freedom of Information Act request revealed 770 safety signals the CDC had not previously disclosed, making it, he says, the most dangerous vaccine in history.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]This claims stems from a\u00a0concerned<\/a>\u00a0blogger who, through a FOIA request, discovered 770 safety signals. However, they don\u2019t quite understand what a safety signal is or how they are handled.<\/p>\n

A safety signal is not proof the vaccine is unsafe and it does not indicate there is a problem with a vaccine.\u00a0Safety signals<\/a>, as identified by VAERS are \u201cunusual or unexpected patterns of adverse events\u201d in the data, which are then further\u00a0analyzed by other\u00a0vaccine safety systems<\/a>\u00a0to determine if something should be addressed. The video also conjures up concerns about lawsuits and transparency.\u00a0Anti-vaxxers use lawsuits and FOIA requests as a\u00a0means to rally their followers<\/a>\u00a0and spread anti-vaccine narratives through misleading tactics and misrepresentation of outcomes thereby aiming to create doubt and reinforce anti-vaccine beliefs among the public.<\/p>\n

Given the concerns about VAERS and FOIA requests, why not give them access to the\u00a0Vaccine Safety Datalink<\/a>\u00a0(VSD)?\u00a0While researchers can access VSD data for vaccine safety studies, the process involves detailed proposals, ethics approvals, and limitations on the data available.
