A\u00a0long Tweet thread<\/a> claims that because of flaws in electronic health records, public health officials do not know who has been vaccinated, so they have no way of claiming that unvaccinated people are more likely to die from COVID.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]The main point here is that we can\u2019t just assume all people with \u201cunknown\u201d vaccination status in studies are unvaccinated.<\/p>\n

In one\u00a0study<\/a>, 44% of the \u201cunknowns\u201d were actually vaccinated, so it\u2019s not accurate to think that \u201cunknowns\u201d automatically mean they\u2019re all unvaccinated. The data even shows that \u201cunknowns\u201d have higher COVID rates than those who are confirmed to be vaccinated.<\/p>\n

This statistic suggests that vaccines do help protect against COVID because the part of the \u201cunknown\u201d group that got vaccinated is likely lowering the overall COVID rates in that group. So, if more than half of the \u201cunknowns\u201d might not be vaccinated and their COVID rates are still high, it means the unvaccinated people could be getting COVID even more than the numbers show.<\/p>\n

We know that more people died in places where fewer were vaccinated.\u00a0In the second year of the COVID-19 pandemic, when vaccines became widely available, this\u00a0study<\/a>\u00a0showed that while large metropolitan areas saw a significant reduction in deaths, rural counties in the U.S. experienced more excess deaths due to challenges in vaccine access, higher vaccine skepticism, and healthcare limitations.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
