Anti-vaxxers are circulating\u00a0an article<\/a>\u00a0that claims that 120,000 \u201cchildren\u201d have died since 2020 and that vaccines are to blame. The source for this data is the\u00a0Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) and their\u00a0table of excess deaths<\/a> for people under the age of 45 from 2020-2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]The overall claim is\u00a0based on data from the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OEC), which tracks excess deaths. Note, the\u00a0dataset<\/a>\u00a0doesn\u2019t include\u00a0the type of death\u00a0let alone the supposed \u201csuddenness\u201d of the deaths.<\/p>\n

Excess deaths<\/em>\u00a0refers to the difference between the expected number of deaths and the actual number of deaths in a specific time period and includes all deaths from all causes. The specific claim that almost 120,000 of these deaths are \u201csudden deaths\u201d and due to the COVID vaccine are\u00a0completely unfounded, and they offer no evidence to back up this claim. Rather, the CDC indicates that many of these excess deaths are due to\u00a0COVID infection<\/a>\u00a0itself.<\/p>\n
