Some people are taking\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0headline from this article<\/a> to suggest that Long-COVID-like symptoms following vaccination prove that vaccines are not worth taking.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]COVID-19 vaccines have been successful in saving lives but can also have side effects, including\u00a0a new condition resembling Long Covid, referred to as Long Vax.\u00a0The<\/span>\u00a0symptoms of Long Vax include persistent headaches, severe fatigue, and abnormal heart rate or blood\u00a0pressure.<\/p>\n

Researchers are investigating connections between certain medical conditions like small fiber neuropathy and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS) and Long Vax. These conditions are also common in people with Long Covid. Some studies have found an\u00a0increase in POTS<\/a>\u00a0symptoms after both vaccination and infection, but\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0increase is significantly less with vaccination than with COVID infection.<\/p>\n

One of\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0leading hypotheses about\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0cause of \u201cLong Vax\u201d involves an overreaction of\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0immune system in people who have previously had cases of COVID.\u00a0The<\/span>\u00a0antibodies produced by\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0vaccine may attack\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0previous antibodies created during\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0first infection. This could also happen if they get infected with COVID again, leading to Long COVID symptoms. More research is needed.<\/p>\n
