While saving lives seems an obvious outcome of our COVID vaccination efforts,\u00a0some Twitter folk<\/a> are getting attention by claiming that a better look at the numbers shows that no lives were saved.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]These claims were not published in peer-reviewed journals. If they had been peer reviewed, the reviewers would have flagged their\u00a0interesting take<\/a>\u00a0on calculating vaccine effectiveness in preventing death.\u00a0They begin their calculation\u00a0with the premise of the \u201c\u2018healthy vaccinee\u2019 bias,\u201d or the idea that \u201cPeople who are\u00a0not<\/em>\u00a0vaccinated are, on average,\u00a0less healthy<\/em>\u00a0than their vaccinated counterparts, and therefore have\u00a0higher\u00a0<\/em>mortality in general.\u201d\u00a0Contrary<\/a>\u00a0to this assumption, people with underlying health conditions are usually targeted to receive vaccines first.<\/p>\n

It\u2019s also of note that unvaccinated people somehow managed to experience the majority of those deaths during the peaks of COVID activity, as seen\u00a0here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Another mistaken assumption\u00a0is thinking that all the deaths they see are because of the vaccine\u00a0since they assume that only healthy people are getting vaccinated. But\u00a0COVID itself contributed to the increase in all causes of death since it\u00a0can cause damage even after the initial sickness, leading to deaths from heart attacks and strokes.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
