An\u00a0anti-vaccine cardiologist<\/a> has written an article arguing that health outcomes are better for unvaccinated children under 3.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]The authors of this\u00a0study<\/a>, a biological engineer\u00a0and a\u00a0journalist<\/a>\u00a0who believes in alien visitations,\u00a0also authored\u00a0a\u00a0now-retracted<\/a>\u00a0article claiming vaccines caused autism in African-American boys.<\/p>\n

But back to the article in question. The methods are difficult to ascertain as it doesn\u2019t disclose how\u00a0the three (total)\u00a0pediatric practices were chosen. A little over 2000 children were included in the study, and over 30% of them were completely unvaccinated. According to the\u00a0CDC<\/a>, approximately\u00a01.3% of children born in 2015-2016 received no vaccines.\u00a0We can assume the authors showed some selection bias in choosing the pediatric practices to study.<\/p>\n

The authors of the study\u00a0did not control for differences between the groups of unvaccinated and vaccinated children, as vaccination status might be associated with other factors that can impact health status. For example, vaccinated families may be more likely to seek out medical care when problems arise, not necessarily because they are more likely to develop problems in the first place.<\/p>\n

Do we know if there are actual differences in the health outcomes of vaccinated and unvaccinated children? Yes. Studies in\u00a0Germany<\/a>, the\u00a0Philippines<\/a>, and the\u00a0United States<\/a>\u00a0show that the advantage of being vaccinated is not getting VPDs while no health advantages hold for remaining unvaccinated.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
