It is caused by the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) which damages your immune system. AIDS is a sexually transmitted infection that can also spread through contact with infected blood or passed from mother to child. HIV progressively weakens your immune system until AIDS develops. By contrast, vaccines don\u2019t weaken your immunity; they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.hhs.gov\/immunization\/basics\/work\/prevention\/index.html#:~:text=How%20do%20vaccines%20work%3F,the%20germ%20ever%20invades%20again.\">stimulate<\/a>\u00a0an immune response.<\/p>\n<p>This twitter claim also wildly exaggerates\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/fact-checking-ap-check-619347436728\">a slight (30%) increase in military HIV diagnoses from 2020 to 2021; from 2021 to 2022, military HIV infections decreased by nearly 60%<\/a>.
