So let\u2019s talk about vaccines and autism.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=&#8221;The Facts:&#8221; font_container=&#8221;tag:h3|text_align:left&#8221; use_theme_fonts=&#8221;yes&#8221;][vc_column_text css=&#8221;&#8221;]Excessive alarm about the rate of autism diagnosis is one of the factors spurring this myth. The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.scientificamerican.com\/article\/the-real-reasons-autism-rates-are-up-in-the-u-s\/\">reasons<\/a>\u00a0for the rise in these rates are multi-faceted: changes in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.forbes.com\/sites\/tarahaelle\/2015\/01\/05\/majority-of-autism-increase-due-to-diagnostic-changes-finds-new-study\/\">diagnostic criteria<\/a>, increased\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.spectrumnews.org\/news\/new-spike-in-autism-numbers-may-reflect-rise-in-awareness\/\">awareness<\/a>,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/educationonline.ku.edu\/community\/idea-timeline\">educational<\/a>\u00a0changes, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.researchgate.net\/profile\/M-E-Suzanne-Lewis\/publication\/5870268_Trends_in_Autism_Prevalence_Diagnostic_Substitution_Revisited\/links\/00b4951c7d6616ffd0000000\/Trends-in-Autism-Prevalence-Diagnostic-Substitution-Revisited.pdf\">lowered rates of intellectual disability (PDF)<\/a>\u00a0account for most of the rising rates.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2014\/03\/30\/opinion\/sunday\/how-to-think-about-the-risk-of-autism.html\">Biological risk factors<\/a>\u00a0such as a father\u2019s age and premature birth could account for some of the rise in the incidence of autism.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/healthfeedback.org\/claimreview\/contrary-to-viral-facebook-claim-numerous-studies-show-vaccines-dont-cause-autism\/?fbclid=IwAR2hOUTbPgWnOMVE_k5mK7V8sv0Ue6egZkD4185rZtpKaKSEyirUavEde5g\">Plenty of evidence<\/a>\u00a0tells us that vaccines do not cause autism. Not only do the studies done to date show vaccines are not in any way linked to autism, but\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC4499461\/\">studies<\/a>\u00a0indicate disorganization of the prefrontal cortex in the brains of autistic people. This finding links autism to development that takes place before birth.
