Such is\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0case with Simpsonwood.<\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a02000 Simpsonwood CDC conference<\/a>\u00a0was a two-day meeting organized by\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0CDC to discuss data from\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Vaccine Safety Datalink<\/a>\u00a0regarding\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0possible link between\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0mercury compound thimerosal in vaccines and neurological issues in vaccinated children. Attendees included experts in various fields, public health organizations, and pharmaceutical companies.<\/p>\n

The<\/span>\u00a0conference gained notoriety in\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0anti-vaccination movement when RFK Jr. wrote an article in 2005 alleging a conspiracy to withhold vaccine safety\u00a0information<\/span>. However,\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0article contained numerous\u00a0factual<\/span>\u00a0errors, leading to its\u00a0retraction<\/a>.<\/p>\n

In 2007,\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Senate HELP Committee<\/a>\u00a0reviewed\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0allegations against\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0CDC and found they had mostly no merit.\u00a0It was found that\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0CDC did not interfere with vaccine safety studies, and\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0review groups did not rely on manipulated studies.<\/p>\n

Four other allegations were also not substantiated, including claims that\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0CDC convened\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Simpsonwood Conference to cover up findings, pressured Dr.\u00a0Thomas Verstraeten<\/a>\u00a0to change his findings, hid\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Vaccine Safety Datalink, or organized public health organizations to hide a link between vaccines and autism. And we know that\u00a0vaccines do not cause autism<\/a>.<\/p>\n

And for what it’s worth,\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0Hepatitis\u00a0B\u00a0vaccine is one of\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0safest<\/a>, with\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0fewest\u00a0possible side effects.\u00a0The<\/span>\u00a0most likely side effects are\u00a0just<\/span>\u00a0pain and soreness at\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0injection site,\u00a0without any documented serious side effects.<\/p>\n

If\u00a0the<\/span>\u00a0hep\u00a0B\u00a0vaccine causes any serious side effects, they are extremely rare\u2014so rare that we haven\u2019t found any in several millions of doses.
