[vc_row source=”” text=”Clinical Trials” font_container=”tag:h2|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes” google_fonts=”font_family:Abril%20Fatface%3Aregular|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” link=”” css=”.vc_custom_1708910874436{border-top-width: 1px !important;border-right-width: 1px !important;border-bottom-width: 1px !important;border-left-width: 1px !important;}”][vc_column][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Claim:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]In a Joe Rogan show\u00a0interview<\/a>, storied anti-vaxxer Suzanne Humphries claims that vaccines aren’t as safe or helpful as we are told, that they can cause health problems, were tested unfairly, and that cleaner living conditions\u2014not vaccines\u2014stopped many diseases.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][vc_row_inner][vc_column_inner][vc_custom_heading text=”The Facts:” font_container=”tag:h3|text_align:left” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text css=””]Suzanne Humphries, a doctor with a background in nephrology (kidney medicine), says she used to give vaccines to her patients, but during the 2008\u20132009 flu season, she became convinced that vaccines cause kidney failure and high blood pressure. The problem is\u00a0that she based this belief on personal stories, not real science. Personal stories can be wrong because of mistakes or bias. In fact, the National Kidney Foundation still says vaccines are safe and\u00a0recommends<\/a>\u00a0them.<\/p>\n

Humphries also claims it’s not a virus but toxins like DDT and arsenic that cause\u00a0polio<\/a>. But scientists have\u00a0isolated<\/a>\u00a0the poliovirus from the bodies of sick people many times. They also did experiments where they\u00a0gave the virus to monkeys<\/a>, which then got the same kind of paralysis as people. So we know that poliovirus has caused polio in the past and the present.<\/p>\n

She says that smallpox was eradicated because of better sanitation. But for that to be true, you would have to believe two things:<\/p>\n

    \n
  1. Better sanitation can stop a virus that spreads through the air<\/li>\n
  2. Every country in the world has good enough sanitation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Since the\u00a0worldwide effort<\/a>\u00a0to get rid of smallpox, there hasn’t been a single case anywhere, which shows it was vaccines\u2014not just sanitation\u2014that stopped it.<\/p>\n

    She also claims that tuberculosis is\u00a0a side effect of the smallpox vaccine. This is impossible because\u00a0smallpox has been completely eradicated, and we had over\u00a0nine thousand<\/a>\u00a0cases of tuberculosis in 2023 in the U.S. alone.<\/p>\n

    Finally, she says\u00a0that doctors give vaccines just to make money and that they get extra money when their patients are vaccinated. This is partly true, but it\u2019s not as simple as it sounds.<\/p>\n

    Doctors are not paid by the companies that make vaccines. Instead, they may get small bonuses from health insurance\u00a0companies<\/a>. These insurance companies want people to stay healthy because it costs them less money in the long run if patients don\u2019t get sick.<\/p>\n

    So the goal isn\u2019t just to make money\u2014it\u2019s to keep patients healthy and avoid bigger problems later.<\/p>\n
