However, vaccine makers are not free from responsibility\u2014this system ensures claims can be handled fairly without discouraging companies from developing vaccines that save lives.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0National Childhood Vaccine Injury Act protects vaccine makers from being sued if a vaccine causes injuries or death *as long as\u00a0the\u00a0side effects are\u00a0unavoidable\u00a0and\u00a0the\u00a0vaccine is made and labeled correctly.* In other words, the\u00a0law stops any lawsuits that claim a vaccine\u2019s design is defective.
