For example, by age 2, a child would typically receive approximately 27 injections, with many vaccines combining protection against multiple diseases.<\/p>\n

Booster shots don\u2019t add new antigens\u00a0to your body; they just remind your immune system how to fight the ones you\u2019ve already been exposed to. Counting boosters as new vaccines can give a false idea of how many different antigens you\u2019re actually being exposed to. The increase in recommended vaccines is about using science to protect public health, not about making money or avoiding liability.<\/p>\n

There have been many\u00a0fantastic rebuttals<\/a>\u00a0to the \u201cexploding\u00a0vaccine\u00a0schedule\u201d claims over the years. Mainly, we are grateful that we can\u00a0prevent more diseases<\/a>\u00a0now than before.<\/p>\n

But even these rebuttals gloss over the fact that the\u00a0vaccination\u00a0schedule<\/a>\u00a0has grown very, very slowly<\/a>. One vaccine was dropped from the schedule in the 1970s, two were added in the 1980s, two were added in the 1990s, one was added in the 2000s, and two were added in the 2010s. And, of course, the 2020s brought us COVID and RSV vaccines. Over the decades, age recommendation changes were made, and some\u00a0vaccines\u00a0were replaced with newer counterparts.<\/p>\n

Overall, the\u00a0vaccine\u00a0schedule\u00a0has expanded by 1-2\u00a0vaccines\u00a0per decade since the 1980s.\u00a0This\u00a0slow, methodical, scientific advance of\u00a0immunization\u00a0recommendations stands in stark contrast to concerns that\u00a0vaccines\u00a0are constantly being capriciously added to the\u00a0schedule.<\/p>\n
