He believes vaccines harm the body, contain dangerous ingredients, and don’t stop diseases.<\/p>\n

Polio was wiped out in the United States is mostly because of vaccines. In the 1950s, scientists made the first polio vaccine, which was a huge step forward in medicine. These vaccines worked very well to stop the spread of polio. They helped kids live normal lives again and gave parents peace of mind. Before the measles vaccine,\u00a0nearly every child<\/a>\u00a0got it before the age of 15. Since the measles vaccination, even a single case is national news.<\/p>\n

Lately, aluminum and mercury in vaccines have\u00a0been\u00a0hot button issues.\u00a0Aluminum is sometimes added to vaccines as\u00a0an adjuvant, to help the body\u2019s immune system respond better. This means children need fewer doses to get full protection.\u00a0Research<\/a>\u00a0has shown over and over that the tiny amount of aluminum in vaccines is far below levels that could be harmful. Our bodies already handle small amounts of aluminum because it\u2019s naturally found in food, water, and even some medicines.<\/p>\n

Most of the aluminum from vaccines leaves the body<\/a>\u00a0quickly through the kidneys. One study published in\u00a0Vaccine<\/em><\/a>\u00a0found that the amount in vaccines is much smaller than what people take in every day from food and the environment. The small amount that stays in the body for a short time does not build up to dangerous levels. Vaccines save millions of lives every year, and their benefits are much greater than the very small and disproven risks sometimes claimed.<\/p>\n

We also know a lot about\u00a0thimerosal<\/a>.\u00a0Thimerosal, a\u00a0mercury\u00a0compound used in some flu vaccines today, has caused concern due to its name being confused with a harmful type of\u00a0mercury.\u00a0Thimerosal\u00a0contains ethylmercury, which is safe and quickly leaves the body. It\u2019s different from harmful methylmercury found in some fish.\u00a0Thimerosal\u00a0has been used safely in vaccines, drugs, and contact solutions since the 1930s.<\/p>\n

Studies<\/a>\u00a0on babies, including those preterm and low-weight babies, show that ethylmercury leaves the body quickly. About half of it is gone in three to seven days, and the rest is flushed out in the baby\u2019s stool. Within a month after getting a vaccine,\u00a0mercury\u00a0levels in the blood return to normal, so it does not accumulate over time.<\/p>\n

Studies also show that\u00a0thimerosal\u00a0<\/a>does\u00a0not<\/a>\u00a0increase\u00a0the\u00a0risk of\u00a0autism and does not harm the brain or body.\u00a0Additionally,\u00a0thimerosal\u00a0has not\u00a0<\/a>been used in childhood vaccines<\/a>\u00a0since 2001. Autism\u00a0diagnoses continued to rise following\u00a0the\u00a02001 removal of\u00a0thimerosal\u00a0from all childhood vaccines.\u00a0The\u00a0continued rise of\u00a0autism\u00a0diagnoses is, in fact, mostly due to growing\u00a0awareness<\/a>\u00a0and changing diagnostic criteria.[\/vc_column_text][\/vc_column_inner][\/vc_row_inner][\/vc_column][\/vc_row]\n<\/div>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
