The idea that he did it because “we treat infectious diseases with vaccines, not with nutritional supplements,\u201d Dr. Fauci is a doctor who studies the immune system, and he knows two important things:<\/p>\n

  1. “Infectious diseases” means any disease caused by germs, not just ones for which vaccines exist.<\/li>\n
  2. Vaccines don\u2019t \u201ctreat\u201d diseases like medicine does. Vaccines help prevent people from catching certain diseases. They do not cure someone after they are sick.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    Many adults in the United States don\u2019t have enough vitamin D:\u00a0around 35%<\/a>\u00a0have low levels. Vitamin D is\u00a0needed<\/a>\u00a0for bones, muscles, nerves, and the immune system to work well.
