This research has been published in trusted medical journals like\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(22)00791-7\/fulltext\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D88121751ac%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1771557590909000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2CUSMEmWVhlDMMfspZpAGQ\"><em>The Lancet<\/em><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Heart inflammation can happen in two ways:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Myocarditis<\/strong>\u00a0is swelling of the heart muscle. It can cause chest pain, trouble breathing, or a fast heartbeat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pericarditis<\/strong>\u00a0is swelling of the thin sac around the heart. It can cause sharp chest pain, especially when breathing in or lying down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These problems are rare. When they do happen after vaccination, most cases are mild and get better quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Heart problems are more common after getting COVID\u00a0than after getting the vaccine. One\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamacardiology\/fullarticle\/2791253\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D94b072d1f9%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1771557590909000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0o22LhTPhajVfVP7AArH1Q\">study<\/a>\u00a0found that young men under 40 had slightly higher rates of myocarditis after vaccination than after infection. However, the same study found that myocarditis caused by COVID\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/en\/news\/2022\/08\/22\/covid-19-infection-poses-higher-risk-for-myocarditis-than-vaccines\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D2e6242699f%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1771557590909000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0JTgdo7hvYMQPXSY98_Dtq\">infection<\/a>\u00a0was much more serious and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/x.com\/a_husby\/status\/1621629462382010368\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more likely<\/a>\u00a0to lead to heart failure or death.<\/p>\n<p>Many\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97&amp;id=6631fb9707&amp;e=7362aa7434\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D6631fb9707%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1771557590909000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0qQQIkJzwXKq64V_w3mtOz\">studies<\/a>\u00a0show that the risk of heart problems is greater and more severe from COVID-19 than from the vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>Malone also seemed to support the idea that polio was not caused by a virus, but by the use of the pesticide DDT. However, polio is caused by a virus called the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/polio\/about\/\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D47642c4058%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1771556555140000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3uHSTsfPUUqZc3RKLhigpr\">poliovirus<\/a>. Scientists first found the virus in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC112492\/\" rel=\"noopener\">1908<\/a>. In early research, doctors injected spinal fluid from a boy who died of polio into two healthy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uen.pressbooks.pub\/ehsl\/chapter\/identifying-polio\/\" rel=\"noopener\">monkeys<\/a>. The monkeys got sick with polio and died. This helped prove that the virus caused the disease.<\/p>\n<p>It is true that pesticides like DDT can affect the nervous system and may cause symptoms like weakness or paralysis. But\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/neuroscience\/paralytic-polio\" rel=\"noopener\">polio<\/a>\u00a0causes paralysis in a different way than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC1247187\/\" rel=\"noopener\">pesticide<\/a>\u00a0poisoning does.<\/p>\n<p>Also, DDT was sometimes used in an attempt to stop polio because some people\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.journals.uchicago.edu\/doi\/abs\/10.1093\/envhis\/emx086?journalCode=eh\" rel=\"noopener\">wrongly believed<\/a>\u00a0flies spread the disease. This means polio outbreaks were already happening before some DDT spraying began.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/archive\/epa\/aboutepa\/ddt-ban-takes-effect.html\" rel=\"noopener\">DDT<\/a>\u00a0use was highest in 1959.
