Japan changed the vaccine schedule in 1981, but SIDS rates kept going up until 1998. That year, Japan started a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncemch.org\/suid-sids\/statistics\/table3.php\">program<\/a>\u00a0to teach parents about\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cfa.go.jp\/policies\/boshihoken\/kenkou\/sids\">safer infant sleep<\/a>\u00a0and how to lower a baby&#8217;s risk of SIDS.<\/p>\n<p>So, the evidence does not show that the vaccine schedule change caused SIDS rates to go down.
