The idea of a &#8220;leaky vaccine&#8221;\u00a0does exist. But as proof, they point to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0264410X08004465\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D9a75cbdb7d%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1743185165920000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3tgfU2kQ6xtF5b-cy0j8aH\">Marek&#8217;s disease<\/a>\u00a0in chickens. In that case, the virus changed, causing a stronger version that could make unvaccinated chickens sicker. But this has only happened with Marek&#8217;s disease, not with other diseases. Even with this &#8220;leaky vaccine,&#8221; vaccination greatly reduced how much the disease spread and how many chickens got sick. Because of vaccines, chicken deaths from Marek&#8217;s disease dropped by 99% from 1970 to 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Another incorrect claim is that vaccines turn birds into mutation factories. Viruses naturally change or mutate over time.\u00a0But most mutations happen when a lot of sick animals spread the virus. Vaccines actually slow down virus spread, making it harder\u2014not easier\u2014for new mutations to form.<\/p>\n<p>He also claims that chickens would gain natural immunity if they were allowed to catch bird flu. The problem with this idea is that flu viruses\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/flu\/php\/viruses\/change.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Da8914bcda0%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1743185165920000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2dZ5HkmCXdR0HmnjV98G77\">mutate<\/a>\u00a0very quickly. Scientists can tell them apart by looking at their\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/measles\/php\/laboratories\/genetic-analysis.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Dc146bb7ace%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1743185165920000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1RPie7FQVVyh2avH03sT0S\">genotype<\/a>, kind of like how you can recognize someone by their fingerprint.<\/p>\n<p>When someone has a real infection, their body can release viruses through a process called shedding. If someone else catches the virus and gets sick, that\u2019s called transmission. Since the vaccine uses a virus, a tiny bit of shedding might happen after you get the shot. But that doesn\u2019t mean it spreads disease.<\/p>\n<p>Here\u2019s what\u2019s important to know: shedding is not the same as spreading illness. Instead, they use mRNA, which is like a set of instructions. It tells your cells to make spike proteins. These proteins show up on the outside of your cells so your immune system can recognize and fight the virus in the future.<\/p>\n<p>The video claims that unvaccinated people can be exposed to spike proteins or mRNA just by being around someone who got the vaccine. But the video gives no evidence of this and doesn\u2019t explain how it would even happen. The mRNA\u00a0doesn\u2019t make more copies of itself in your. cells\u2014it\u2019s just used once as instructions. Then breaks down, usually within a day.
