The problem is\u00a0that she based this belief on personal stories, not real science. Personal stories can be wrong because of mistakes or bias. In fact, the National Kidney Foundation still says vaccines are safe and<a href=\"https:\/\/www.kidney.org\/subject\/vaccination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D5679acaf85%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw04DXzZWIOL8iixVVk5JOjM\">\u00a0recommends<\/a>\u00a0them.<\/p>\n<p>Humphries also claims it&#8217;s not a virus but toxins like DDT and arsenic that cause\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voicesforvaccines.org\/the-emotional-toll-of-polio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D692bb53025%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3OfdSb_FS4itxaH0eXGRgS\">polio<\/a>. But scientists have\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/virology.ws\/2008\/12\/19\/100th-anniversary-of-the-isolation-of-poliovirus\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D0e720f2fec%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3Dm4mls2yUfk_l1s4xU8yR\">isolated<\/a>\u00a0the poliovirus from the bodies of sick people many times. They also did experiments where they\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uen.pressbooks.pub\/ehsl\/chapter\/identifying-polio\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D3c7358348b%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0hxgZxOd_7b52PzLIUU_8G\">gave the virus to monkeys<\/a>, which then got the same kind of paralysis as people. So we know that poliovirus has caused polio in the past and the present.<\/p>\n<p>She says that smallpox was eradicated because of better sanitation. But for that to be true, you would have to believe two things:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Better sanitation can stop a virus that spreads through the air<\/li>\n<li>Every country in the world has good enough sanitation.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Since the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfid.org\/the-triumph-of-science-the-incredible-story-of-smallpox-eradication\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D637e78b6f5%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1Y2FVV16yesdImuXuz4-Nf\">worldwide effort<\/a>\u00a0to get rid of smallpox, there hasn&#8217;t been a single case anywhere, which shows it was vaccines\u2014not just sanitation\u2014that stopped it.<\/p>\n<p>She also claims that tuberculosis is\u00a0a side effect of the smallpox vaccine. This is impossible because\u00a0smallpox has been completely eradicated, and we had over\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/tb-surveillance-report-2023\/summary\/national.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D85727dd99f%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0WaecKNq5zT-Tc1QSAiOad\">nine thousand<\/a>\u00a0cases of tuberculosis in 2023 in the U.S. alone.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, she says\u00a0that doctors give vaccines just to make money and that they get extra money when their patients are vaccinated. This is partly true, but it\u2019s not as simple as it sounds.<\/p>\n<p>Doctors are not paid by the companies that make vaccines. Instead, they may get small bonuses from health insurance\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/providers.anthem.com\/docs\/gpp\/KY_CAID_PU_COVID19VaccineProviderIncentiveProgram.pdf?v=202201202223\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D67a784c57b%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1746052417839000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1zsoSYC78UpZVmE2Wj4coh\">companies<\/a>. Even\u00a0the\u00a0most potent carcinogens take\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/ascopost.com\/issues\/may-25-2021\/chernobyl-at-35-years-an-oncologist-s-perspective\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D2e00111fb2%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1743727750495000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2z3EfdumU8A3J_YC5GXw2T\">years<\/a>\u00a0to cause\u00a0cancer.\u00a0It would be some time before we saw spikes in\u00a0cancer.\u00a0Epidemiological data show no increase in\u00a0cancer\u00a0linked to\u00a0the\u00a0vaccines. Reports of rising early-onset\u00a0cancers\u00a0started in\u00a0the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/bmjoncology.bmj.com\/content\/2\/1\/e000049\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D77c74869fd%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1743727750495000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1qrd3iLL5HJhOYO8v3de7t\">1990s<\/a>, long before\u00a0the\u00a0COVID\u00a0vaccines existed.<\/p>\n<p>The video mentions a 40% rise in cancers based on military data, but this claim has already been looked into and proven false. The numbers were taken out of context, and later checks showed the data had\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/science.feedback.org\/review\/alleged-spikes-in-medical-conditions-military-after-covid-19-vaccine-based-on-faulty-data-thomas-renz\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">errors<\/a>.
