This is a special edition of our newsletter where we will tackle several claims from that hearing.<\/p>\n<p>In this hearing we heard claims that COVID vaccines cause deadly heart attacks.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid wpex-relative\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 style=\"text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >The Facts:<\/h3>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>COVID itself can to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nih.gov\/news-events\/nih-research-matters\/how-sars-cov-2-contributes-heart-attacks-strokes\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D93cc6a8b0a%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1705703317390000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0ptP0SrL4rGREbdegK71e_\">contribute<\/a>\u00a0to strokes and heart attacks<strong>.<\/strong>\u00a0However, studies show the opposite for vaccines, including this latest\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/arstechnica.com\/science\/2024\/01\/covid-shots-cut-covid-related-stroke-clot-heart-attack-risk-by-50-in-65\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D3f5817f37a%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1705703317390000&amp;usg=AOvVaw30bOlJV6F7apK7xusCZudt\">study<\/a>\u00a0that shows that staying current with COVID-19 vaccines cuts the risk of strokes, blood clots, and heart attacks in half in people over 65 and those with certain health conditions. The study involved over 12.7 million older adults and about 78,600 people with severe kidney disease. It found that the bivalent booster is about 47% effective in preventing heart-related issues in the older group, and 51% effective in the kidney disease group.<\/p>\n<p>Some people may get myocarditis risk and blood clot risk confused and jump to conclusions.\u00a0The mRNA vaccines do carry a small risk of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/health\/health-news\/myocarditis-covid-vaccination-immune-inflammation-rcna82681\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D99e3b55051%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1705703317390000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1ustQDcCMDhMimi2xu3h1x\">myocarditis<\/a>\u00a0in young men and adolescent boys, but it often resolves on its own relatively quickly.\u00a0Anti-vaccine activists have used prior concerns about a particular type of blood clot associated\u00a0with<a href=\"https:\/\/www.medicalnewstoday.com\/articles\/why-the-astrazeneca-vaccine-is-linked-with-rare-blood-clots-new-insights#:~:text=Scientists%20do%20not%20understand%20the,form%20clots%20to%20stop%20bleeding.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D08ed8f8a2a%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1705703317390000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2aZ_TVtmWybpb6JM7R8G_I\">\u00a0adenovirus vector vaccines<\/a>.\u00a0mRNA vaccines have a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC10052419\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Dbcbf3be55e%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1705703317390000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1i5K9eW--9Cn-Rovh6hcom\">minimal risk<\/a>\u00a0of blood clots. These facts contradict rather than confirm the paramedic\u2019s bias.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/full\/10.1161\/CIRCULATIONAHA.122.059970\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">risks<\/a>\u00a0of myocarditis from COVID far outweigh the risks of myocarditis from COVID vaccines. COVID infection itself can cause\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/my.clevelandclinic.org\/health\/articles\/heart-problems-after-covid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Dd3b41f6072%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1722016969595000&amp;usg=AOvVaw12YhU3xsdyN2-5y1tQ08F_\">heart failure<\/a>\u00a0or a heart attack. This is a special edition of our newsletter where we will tackle several claims from that hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Senator Johnson claimed that COVID vaccines have caused 38,607 reported deaths.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid wpex-relative\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 style=\"text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >The Facts:<\/h3>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>These claims are based on laypeople searching\u00a0the\u00a0Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System, or VAERS. As noted on\u00a0the\u00a0VAERS website, anyone can report anything to VAERS, regardless of causation.\u00a0If this claim were true to any degree, we would expect more deaths in areas with higher vaccination rates.\u00a0However,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cidrap.umn.edu\/covid-19\/excess-deaths-decreased-second-pandemic-year-likely-tied-vaccination\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D990764ca99%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1703447344512000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3mLtm3sx3YUu2dWNZa1OhN\">higher excess deaths<\/a>\u00a0were seen in areas with lower vaccination rates.<\/p>\n<p>The website&#8217;s most important warning helps put\u00a0the\u00a0above claims into context:\u00a0<strong>\u201cVAERS reports may contain information that is incomplete, inaccurate, coincidental, or unverifiable.\u00a0<\/strong>Reports to VAERS can also be biased. As a result, there are limitations on how\u00a0the\u00a0data can be used scientifically. Data from VAERS reports should always be interpreted with these limitations in mind.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>These death\u00a0claims usually don\u2019t have any proof to back them up.<\/p>\n<p>What is the likely number of deaths actually caused by COVID\u00a0vaccines?\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/archive.cdc.gov\/www_cdc_gov\/coronavirus\/2019-ncov\/vaccines\/safety\/adverse-events.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Careful reviews<\/a>\u00a0by CDC experts have found nine deaths in the United States linked to a rare blood-clotting condition after the Johnson\u202f&amp;\u202fJohnson vaccine. No other deaths have been confirmed as caused by any COVID\u00a0shot, out of hundreds of millions of doses given.
