We will talk about them in this week&#8217;s newsletter.<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid wpex-relative\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 style=\"text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >The Facts:<\/h3>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>In 1998,\u00a0 Andrew Wakefield held a press conference about a paper he wrote that wrongly suggested vaccines might cause autism. That paper has since been proven false and officially taken back.<\/p>\n<p>At that time, scientists didn\u2019t know as much about autism as they do today. Now, research shows autism is mostly caused by genes and usually\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/sections\/health-shots\/2014\/03\/26\/294446735\/brain-changes-suggest-autism-starts-in-the-womb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">begins before birth<\/a>, while the baby\u2019s brain is still developing. The brain differences linked to autism are present early on, not caused suddenly by vaccines.<\/p>\n<p>In 2000, the CDC held a two-day meeting at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97&amp;id=a2e8ac4eab&amp;e=1c0c4183cb\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Simpsonwood<\/a>\u00a0Conference Center to review data about thimerosal, a mercury compound once used in some vaccines. Experts, health organizations, and vaccine companies carefully studied whether it was linked to autism or other brain issues.<\/p>\n<p>Later, in 2005, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. published an article claiming there was a conspiracy to hide vaccine safety problems. But the article contained many errors and was\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.salon.com\/2011\/01\/16\/dangerous_immunity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">retracted<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In 2007, a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20090327063553\/http:\/\/help.senate.gov\/Min_press\/autism.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Senate committee<\/a>\u00a0reviewed these claims against the CDC. They found the accusations were mostly untrue and that the CDC did not interfere with vaccine safety\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/autismsciencefoundation.org\/autism-and-vaccines-read-the-science\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">studies<\/a>. They also found no evidence of a cover-up at the Simpsonwood meeting or pressure on researchers to change their results.<\/p>\n<p>Many large studies since then, including\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/autismsciencefoundation.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/vaccine.2019.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">one in Denmark<\/a>\u00a0that followed more than 650,000 children, show that vaccines like the MMR shot do not cause autism. President Trump\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/policy\/healthcare\/5516749-trump-vaccine-suggestions-autism-links\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">said<\/a>,\u00a0\u201cWe want no aluminum in the vaccine.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid wpex-relative\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 style=\"text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >The Facts:<\/h3>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>Aluminum is sometimes added to vaccines as\u00a0an adjuvant, to help the body\u2019s immune system respond better. This means children need fewer doses to get full protection.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccine-safety\/about\/adjuvants.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Research<\/a>\u00a0has shown over and over that the tiny amount of aluminum in vaccines is far below levels that could be harmful. Our bodies already handle small amounts of aluminum because it\u2019s naturally found in food, water, and even some medicines.<\/p>\n<p>Most of the aluminum from vaccines l<a href=\"https:\/\/jamanetwork.com\/journals\/jamapediatrics\/fullarticle\/1712578\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">eaves the body<\/a>\u00a0quickly through the kidneys. One study published in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/science\/article\/abs\/pii\/S0264410X11015799\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><em>Vaccine<\/em><\/a>\u00a0found that the amount in vaccines is much smaller than what people take in every day from food and the environment.<\/p>\n<p>The small amount that stays in the body for a short time does not build up to dangerous levels. Vaccines save millions of lives every year, and their benefits are much greater than the very small and disproven risks sometimes claimed.<\/p>\n<p>A recent\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.acpjournals.org\/doi\/10.7326\/ANNALS-25-00997\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">study from Denmark<\/a>\u00a0looked at the health of more than 1.2 million children over many years. The researchers checked for long-term problems like asthma, autism, and other ongoing illnesses. The mumps, measles&#8211;and the three should be taken separately. And it seems to be that when you mix them, there could be a problem. So, there\u2019s no downside in taking them separately. In fact, they think it\u2019s better. So let it be separate.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_inner vc_row-fluid wpex-relative\"><div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\"><div class=\"vc_column-inner\"><div class=\"wpb_wrapper\"><h3 style=\"text-align: left\" class=\"vc_custom_heading vc_do_custom_heading\" >The Facts:<\/h3>\n\t<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element\" >\n\t\t<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n\t\t\t<p>Combination vaccines, like MMRV (measles, mumps, rubella, and varicella) or Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis), are made to protect children against several diseases with fewer shots.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of needing a separate injection for each illness, one shot can cover more than one, which saves time and helps children\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.gavi.org\/vaccineswork\/how-combining-vaccines-saves-money-and-lives\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">stay on track<\/a>\u00a0with the recommended schedule. Missed or delayed vaccines can leave children vulnerable to serious illness. Fewer shots also mean less stress for both kids and parents.<\/p>\n<p>Extensive\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC8954135\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><u>research<\/u><\/a>\u00a0shows that combination vaccines are just as safe and effective as giving shots separately.\u00a0Children today receive far\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/vaccines\/parents\/why-vaccinate\/strengthen-baby-immune.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">fewer antigens<\/a>\u00a0to protect against more diseases than kids did even 30 years ago, when the vaccine schedule used 3,000 antigens to protect against 8 diseases by age two.\u00a0Today, the vaccine schedule uses 305 antigens to protect against 14 diseases in the same timeframe.<\/p>\n<p>To put this in perspective, children fight off\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.michigan.gov\/-\/media\/Project\/Websites\/mdhhs\/Adult-and-Childrens-Services\/Children-and-Families\/Immunization-Information\/LHD\/Waiver_Ed_Number_of_Antigens.pdf?rev=ce732cd58b1b42048b5e5d7d8e101f68#:~:text=With%20these%20advances%20in%20medical,150%20for%20the%20whole%20schedule).\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D9af5381380%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1722016969595000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3vODYWbOf1guaRz_Iy_7xl\">2,000-6,000 antigens every day<\/a>\u00a0just by eating, breathing, and playing.<\/p>\n<p>Combination vaccines simplify the schedule and reduce the number of shots.
