It can cause chest pain, trouble breathing, or a fast heartbeat.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pericarditis<\/strong>\u00a0is swelling of the thin sac around the heart. It can cause sharp chest pain, especially when breathing in or lying down.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>These problems are rare. When they do happen after vaccination, most cases are mild and get better quickly.<\/p>\n<p>Heart problems are more common after getting COVID\u00a0than after getting the vaccine. In early research, doctors injected spinal fluid from a boy who died of polio into two healthy\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/uen.pressbooks.pub\/ehsl\/chapter\/identifying-polio\/\" rel=\"noopener\">monkeys<\/a>. The monkeys got sick with polio and died. This helped prove that the virus caused the disease.<\/p>\n<p>It is true that pesticides like DDT can affect the nervous system and may cause symptoms like weakness or paralysis. But\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/neuroscience\/paralytic-polio\" rel=\"noopener\">polio<\/a>\u00a0causes paralysis in a different way than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/articles\/PMC1247187\/\" rel=\"noopener\">pesticide<\/a>\u00a0poisoning does.<\/p>\n<p>Also, DDT was sometimes used in an attempt to stop polio because some people\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.journals.uchicago.edu\/doi\/abs\/10.1093\/envhis\/emx086?journalCode=eh\" rel=\"noopener\">wrongly believed<\/a>\u00a0flies spread the disease. This means polio outbreaks were already happening before some DDT spraying began.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.epa.gov\/archive\/epa\/aboutepa\/ddt-ban-takes-effect.html\" rel=\"noopener\">DDT<\/a>\u00a0use was highest in 1959. He talks about government censorship and corruption in science journals.<\/p>\n<p>One of his claims is about corruption in medical journals. He says drug companies can publish a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/open-access.network\/en\/information\/publishing\/preprints\" rel=\"noopener\">preprint<\/a>\u00a0and use it to promote their products. A preprint is a research paper that has not yet been reviewed by other scientists or officially published.<\/p>\n<p>Sometimes, a drug company may share a preprint in its marketing to make it seem more official. But the journal is not responsible if a company uses a preprint in a misleading way. The problem would be with the company, not the journal.<\/p>\n<p>RFK Jr. also says that people who now lead the National Institutes of Health (NIH), such as Jay Bhattacharya, Marty Makary, and Dr. Oz, were censored during COVID-19. Bhattacharya claimed that the government worked with social media companies to silence his views. However, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.supremecourt.gov\/opinions\/23pdf\/23-411_3dq3.pdf\" rel=\"noopener\">U.S. Supreme Court<\/a>\u00a0later said there was no proof that the government forced social media companies to remove content.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, Kid Rock\u2019s brother did not lose his leg because of a vaccine.
