When we searched online for \u201cHPV vaccination increases cervical cancer,\u201d we found a headline that said, \u201cHPV vaccination linked to higher rates of cervical cancer screenings globally.\u201d If someone only reads the first part of that headline, they might misunderstand it. The full title explains that it is about higher screening rates, not higher cancer rates.<\/p>\n<p>There is also a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/laninf\/article\/PIIS1473-3099(10)70182-1\/fulltext\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noindex\">published letter\u00a0<\/a>(not a research study) suggesting that HPV vaccination may be linked to lower screening rates. However, this was just an idea, and later research has not supported that concern.<\/p>\n<p>Looking at the scientific evidence, the claim that HPV vaccines increase cervical cancer is not supported by data.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa1917338\" rel=\"noopener\">Study<\/a>\u00a0after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/jnci\/article\/116\/6\/857\/7577291\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thelancet.com\/journals\/lancet\/article\/PIIS0140-6736(21)02178-4\/abstract\" rel=\"noopener\">study<\/a>\u00a0shows that cervical cancer rates are much lower in people who received the HPV vaccine compared to those who did not. Some research also found that no cases of cervical cancer were seen in girls who were vaccinated at ages 12 to 13.<\/p>\n<p>More than\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/docs.google.com\/spreadsheets\/d\/1bX4SAJwMUufNAkBplhKHOIe4gdI0BeRhpAXM5hpfV_Y\/edit?pli=1&amp;gid=0#gid=0\" rel=\"noopener nofollow noindex\">50 randomized controlled studies<\/a>\u00a0have shown that the HPV vaccine is safe and effective. The video being shared\u00a0<strong>does not<\/strong>\u00a0say that he had a vaccine injury.<\/p>\n<p>Some people worry about the speed of COVID vaccine development and often point to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voicesforvaccines.org\/science\/vaccinesafety\/\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D09bc8a38ce%26e%3D7362aa7434&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1771019276698000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3WNSZnUZz_mLDYwv-4oD4o\">VAERS<\/a>. VAERS stands for the Vaccine Adverse Event Reporting System. It is run by the CDC and FDA as an early warning system. Anyone can submit a report if something happens after a vaccine. But a report does not prove the vaccine caused the problem. VAERS is meant to spot patterns that scientists can study more carefully. It cannot, by itself, show that a vaccine caused harm.<\/p>\n<p>There has also been discussion about ivermectin. Ivermectin is a real medicine that is approved to treat certain conditions, such as some parasite infections. However, it is not approved to treat or prevent COVID.\u00a0The FDA has clearly stated that ivermectin is not for COVID treatment .<\/p>\n<p>Large clinical trials have studied ivermectin for COVID.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.factcheck.org\/2022\/09\/scicheck-clinical-trials-show-ivermectin-does-not-benefit-covid-19-patients-contrary-to-social-media-claims\/\" rel=\"noopener\">These studies<\/a>\u00a0found that it does not meaningfully help people recover from COVID or prevent long COVID. While ivermectin is generally safe when used correctly for approved reasons, it can still cause side effects. But it is important to know that the investigation is still going on. So far, there is no proof that vaccines caused these deaths. One report has even suggested that someone\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.eastidahonews.com\/2025\/05\/homicide-investigation-underway-after-18-month-old-twins-are-found-dead-in-payette-home\" rel=\"noopener\">may have done something<\/a>\u00a0to the twins other than vaccines. Right now, saying the deaths were caused by vaccines is only a claim, because the official cause of death has not been shared yet.<\/p>\n<p>This reminds us of the death of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wisn.com\/article\/medical-examiner-rules-waukesha-girl-did-not-die-of-hpv-vaccine\/6323834\" rel=\"noopener\">Meredith Prohaska<\/a>, a 12-year-old girl. Some people rumored that she died because of the HPV vaccine, but later it was found that she died from taking too much Benadryl. Facts often take longer to come out than rumors.
