Since COVID, there has been an increase in the awareness of these types of deaths, with much of the blame being falsely put to vaccines. But these deaths did occur prior to COVID vaccines, and COVID itself can cause\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.heart.org\/en\/news\/2020\/09\/11\/a-closer-look-at-covid-19-and-heart-complications-among-athletes\">heart complications<\/a>\u00a0among athletes.<\/p>\n<p>The \u201cGood Sciencing\u201d article (which we would argue does not employ good science, but rather any number of logical fallacies), lists a number of people who have died in the past year, including someone who died after\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailymail.co.uk\/news\/article-11379903\/Snowboarder-Samuel-Finnemore-dies-New-Zealand-crashing-window-flat.html\">crashing<\/a>\u00a0through a window and was found 30 meters from his home, and a former\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.onlygators.com\/11\/05\/2022\/major-parker-dies-at-44-gators-star-helped-begin-florida-basketballs-rise-to-greatness\/\">basketball player<\/a>\u00a0who had been living with limited functionality in his heart the last few years after surviving heart attack that left him in a weeks-long coma. How Good Sciencing came to conclude that these deaths are clearly indicative of vaccine injury is anybody\u2019s guess.<\/p>\n<p>In the same vein, Damar Hamlin experienced a cardiac event after receiving a blow to the chest. While the cause has not yet been determined, experts believe it is likely something called\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ahajournals.org\/doi\/full\/10.1161\/circep.111.962712\">commotio cordis<\/a>, a very rare disruption of the heart rhythm caused by an impact to the chest, which can be fatal without immediate medical intervention. Suggesting that vaccines cause mutations, however, demonstrates a fundamental misunderstanding of viral mutation in the first place.<\/p>\n<p>The opinion piece in the WSJ opens, \u201cThe virus appears to be evolving in ways that evade immunity.\u201d While the premise is accurate \u2013that the virus is evolving to evade immunity\u2013 the conclusion does not follow that vaccines are causing the virus to mutate. As the article points out, a research paper in\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nature.com\/articles\/s41586-022-05644-7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D15f887278c%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1673042510136000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2_TBqI8c-Ga4Ar09_yJoyi\">Nature<\/a>\u00a0states COVID\u2019s \u201crapid and simultaneous emergence of multiple variants with enormous growth advantages is unprecedented,\u201d meaning that COVID itself mutates rapidly, and has displayed the propensity to do so even\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/graphics\/HEALTH-CORONAVIRUS\/EVOLUTION\/yxmpjqkdzvr\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D7061edbc71%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1673042510136000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1-O4wPLMG1G8YVyCN3kKCi\">before<\/a>\u00a0vaccines were ever released.<\/p>\n<p>The virus doesn\u2019t mutate because we are vaccinated, the virus mutates because that is its nature, and those mutations that end up with an advantage are the ones that will be able to infect human cells and replicate there. As they concede, VAERS data \u201cpassive reporting system that accepts reports from anybody,\u201d and that many are \u201chealthcare professionals, who were told during the pandemic they were required to lodge reports if post-vaccination issues cropped up.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Anybody can make a report, regardless of their understanding of their situation and whether the event resulted from the vaccine or was just a coincidence. Likewise, healthcare professionals were told to report\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vaers.hhs.gov\/reportevent.html\">any<\/a>\u00a0severe adverse event, which by definition is any event that occurs after a vaccine regardless of causation. Because the authors conceded these points, their use of the data anyhow shows that they make their argument in bad faith.<\/p>\n<p>To fuel the idea that this data was damning, they claim the CDC his the results of statistical analysis. However, all raw VAERS data is readily available on the VAERS\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/vaers.hhs.gov\/data.html\">website<\/a>.
