According to the sister, the cause was vaccine\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voicesforvaccines.org\/glossary-words\/shedding\/\">shedding<\/a>, a concept often misunderstood by many. Shedding happens when a live virus replicates in your body and then spreads to others. That\u2019s why viruses are contagious.<\/p>\n<p>Some specific vaccines use\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=szfVMtyueks&amp;feature=youtu.be\">live but weakened<\/a>\u00a0viruses that usually do not cause illness. These can also shed in very specific ways and usually don\u2019t cause illness in people with functioning immune systems.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voicesforvaccines.org\/vaccine-information\/covid19\/\">COVID vaccines<\/a>, however, aren\u2019t live vaccines and do not shed, as there is no virus to shed. Fortunately,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMoa2202826\">studies have shown<\/a>\u00a0that vaccines do mitigate some of that risk, for example, by lowering the risk of hospitalization due to omicron in children ages 5-11 by two-thirds.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.genomicseducation.hee.nhs.uk\/blog\/why-mrna-vaccines-arent-gene-therapies\/\">The vaccines are not gene therapy<\/a>. mRNA is delivered to the cell but does not cross the nuclear membrane where a cell keeps its DNA. Therefore, mRNA cannot alter this DNA. As a scientist, she should know that anecdotes do not make for proof and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.tylervigen.com\/spurious-correlations\">correlation does not imply causation<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Behind these claims may be real evidence that\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ingentaconnect.com\/content\/wk\/aog\/2022\/00000139\/00000004\/art00002\">vaccination<\/a>\u00a0(and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9267255\/\">COVID<\/a>\u00a0disease) may slightly and temporarily lengthen someone\u2019s menstrual cycle. Despite these findings and the suggestions of the naysayers, COVID vaccines do not make anyone of any gender less likely to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/academic.oup.com\/aje\/article\/191\/8\/1383\/6511811?login=false\">conceive<\/a>\u00a0a baby and they do not cause\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u=e17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97&amp;id=8a1e4b406e&amp;e=fc0735be13\">miscarriages<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>As to the pap smear claims, most abnormal pap smears are caused by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.voicesforvaccines.org\/vaccine-information\/hpv\/\">HPV<\/a>, which is, of course, vaccine-preventable. Those abnormal results not caused by HPV are caused by sexually transmitted diseases or bacterial or yeast infections.
