She did receive an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine, but the vaccine cannot provide 100% effective protection against a mutating virus. Seven months later, she contracted COVID-19. The combination of COVID disease and her congenital heart condition caused her to develop a complication called rhabdomyolysis. Because her heart was already weak and vulnerable, the complication progressed into myocarditis, kidney failure, and severe dehydration. Eventually, the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/niosh\/topics\/rhabdo\/default.html#:~:text=Rhabdomyolysis%20(often%20called%20rhabdo)%20is,permanent%20disability%20or%20even%20death.\">rhabdomyolysis<\/a>\u00a0resulted in leg amputations.<\/p>\n<p>As she\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.snopes.com\/news\/2023\/01\/24\/claire-bridges-covid\/\">explains<\/a>\u00a0in an interview:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\nThat Twitter account did not have permission to use my story. Lymph nodes are made up of cells that fight infections. When these cells come across foreign invaders (or in the case of vaccines, specific antigens), they are introduced to other immune cells so the invading cells can be identified and targeted. The video is presented as his \u201cadmission\u201d that mRNA vaccine affects women\u2019s menstrual cycles and causes fertility concerns.<\/p>\n<p>He does admit that menstrual cycles are impacted by the mRNA COVID vaccine.\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nih.gov\/news-events\/news-releases\/study-confirms-link-between-covid-19-vaccination-temporary-increase-menstrual-cycle-length\">Studies<\/a>\u00a0have shown a link between COVID-19 vaccination and menstrual cycle length, but the changes are temporary and within a normal range of variation. There have also been studies into\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9464596\/\">fertility<\/a>\u00a0which do not show any correlation between COVID vaccine and reduced fertility.<\/p>\n<p>The tweet\u2019s suggestion that mRNA lingers in the body is taken out of context. The mRNA molecule is very\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8071766\/\">unstable<\/a>\u00a0and is quickly broken down by the body. In the video, when he says, \u201cI hope we don\u2019t find that mRNA lingers in the body,\u201d he isn\u2019t actually concerned that they will.
