First, only people who are interested in answering for one reason or another are going to answer, which leads to participation bias or\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sciencedirect.com\/topics\/nursing-and-health-professions\/nonresponse-bias\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Ddbdaa50844%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1699635313131000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1cgGLUcmdVZPA_LBSYwlQO\">nonresponse bias<\/a>, amongst other forms of bias. People with particular experiences are also the most likely to respond to certain surveys. In this case, it may be that people with strong feelings about COVID vaccines are the most likely to respond to the survey.<\/p>\n<p>The survey question in this case doesn\u2019t ask for verification on cause of death, so they aren\u2019t asking if someone knows anyone whose official cause of death was the vaccine. The question asks if the respondent believes they know someone whose death was caused by a vaccine. A Table 2 Fallacy results from\u00a0<em>multiple<\/em>\u00a0adjusted effect estimates from a single model presented in a single table.\u00a0Problems arise\u00a0when different types of estimates are presented on\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0same table.<\/p>\n<p>In this case\u00a0a table presents\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0results of multiple doses of a vaccine.\u00a0It\u2019s important to adjust for prior vaccination doses, but we\u00a0can\u2019t then use that same adjustment to draw conclusions\u00a0about\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0efficacy of those prior doses.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0actual results of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0study conclude that \u201c<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0bivalent COVID-19 vaccine booster was 30% effective in preventing infection, during\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0time when\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0virus strains dominant in\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0community were represented in\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0vaccine.\u201d\u00a0This conclusion\u00a0is supported by another\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nejm.org\/doi\/full\/10.1056\/NEJMc2215471\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D0678b72be8%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1684341134708000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2p_K7Ch4HaZZGe4uBi3qqv\">analysis<\/a>\u00a0showing that bivalent boosters\u00a0had an effectiveness of 59% against hospitalization and 62% against hospitalization or
