These conditions are also common in people with Long Covid. Prevnar-13 was licensed based on a trial comparing it to\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cdc.gov\/mmwr\/preview\/mmwrhtml\/rr5911a1.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D6b0cd6d8e0%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0BnnSs1sJ70jFJiNF1LY0j\">Prevnar-7<\/a>, which was already effective in preventing certain diseases caused by pneumococci.<\/p>\n<p>It would have been\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/pauloffit.substack.com\/p\/the-casual-cruelty-of-placebo-controlled\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D718ffc6dee%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2yDwbD8E9YNbUkx0o9iYa_\">unethical<\/a>\u00a0to use a saline placebo for Prevnar-13 when a vaccine was already available that provided significant protection against\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nfid.org\/infectious-diseases\/pneumococcal-disease-and-children\/#:~:text=Pneumococcal%20disease%20can%20range%20from,brain%20damage%2C%20and%20limb%20amputation.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D629e7efea3%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0hNTbALGrzBegKg7R81yKZ\">severe bacterial infection<\/a>. It\u2019s important to begin by understanding that \u201c<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0Amish\u201d are\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/groups.etown.edu\/amishstudies\/social-organization\/diversity\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D72a640f7b0%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw23Yt60OY6ExQR5usgG63ua\">not a monolithic<\/a>\u00a0group.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0Amish are made up of individuals who make choices that work best for themselves and their families. While it is accurate to say that, on\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0whole, vaccination rates amongst Amish people tend to be lower than\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0general population,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0vaccination rates are not zero. In one\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/publications.aap.org\/pediatrics\/article-abstract\/128\/1\/79\/30323\/Underimmunization-in-Ohio-s-Amish-Parental-Fears?autologincheck=redirected\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D5337163ba1%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1tMoGimRx3rc4-o6-tQuB7\">study<\/a>, it was found that 68% of respondents vaccinated all their children, and only 14% said they did not vaccinate at all.<\/p>\n<p>Beyond Amish communities, it is easy to find unvaccinated autistic people. A\u00a0number of studies include autistic children that have received no vaccines. There is\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC9464417\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D91e3c4a557%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw0i9ldM_RFMxpDH1p0zXF1B\">no difference<\/a>\u00a0in autism rates between those that have been vaccinated and those that haven\u2019t.<\/p>\n<p>Whether or not Amish children have autism is a verifiable question. One\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/imfar.confex.com\/imfar\/2010\/webprogram\/Paper7336.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D8885e59d7b%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1690295150789000&amp;usg=AOvVaw2F1ZJBqJOB_afqAH9zb-t-\">study<\/a>\u00a0sent screeners into an Amish community to assess children and, indeed, found children who met an Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnosis.
