Not when you understand\u00a0how vaccines work.<\/p>\n<p>When\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0COVID vaccine first came out, it had a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC8863502\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3D91bccf84d5%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1710722923793000&amp;usg=AOvVaw20qJ_yP-Qz-xS799lSByOe\">high efficacy<\/a>. Over time,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0virus mutated and protection waned, so efficacy against mild disease dropped.\u00a0We know that while our antibodies wane, our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC10668147\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Ddb0d0bbbac%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1710722923793000&amp;usg=AOvVaw1qpQclVifYHf3qpldgCcC9\">T cells\u00a0<\/a>last far longer, meaning that\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0virus might start replicating in our system even months after we have been vaccinated, but our memory cells will enter\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0fight and keep us out of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0hospital and out of serious danger from\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0disease.<\/p>\n<p>None of this was much of a prediction, given that two months before RFK Jr. recorded that video,\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0FDA\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fda.gov\/news-events\/press-announcements\/coronavirus-covid-19-update-fda-takes-action-help-facilitate-timely-development-safe-effective-covid\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-saferedirecturl=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/url?q=https:\/\/voicesforvaccines.us6.list-manage.com\/track\/click?u%3De17a65409cd8f13ba7e58cc97%26id%3Dbd154bbed7%26e%3Dfc0735be13&amp;source=gmail&amp;ust=1710722923793000&amp;usg=AOvVaw3xSBNIBcg1eJ_z9Dpphx66\">explained<\/a>\u00a0that it \u201cwould expect that a COVID-19 vaccine would prevent disease or decrease its severity in at least 50% of people who are anti-vaccine factions, is that they will overstimulate\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span> immune system into developing an autoimmune lupus, within a year after infection. However, COVID-infected patients who had prior vaccination against COVID\u00a0did not show increased risk for AIRD, with\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0exception of patients with severe COVID.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"il\">The<\/span>\u00a0study, one of\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0largest on this topic in Asian populations, used data from millions of adults and compared those who had COVID-19 with those who had influenza or were not infected. It showed that\u00a0<span class=\"il\">the<\/span>\u00a0risk of autoimmune diseases after COVID\u00a0was about 25% to 30% higher compared to those without infection. This risk dropped back to normal after a year.
