I immunize to protect all children, here at home and abroad. I volunteer overseas for Rotary in the Global Polio Eradication Initiative, leading volunteer teams to immunize against polio. During our campaigns children also receive other life-saving vaccines such as measles, whooping cough, yellow fever, etc. I have seen first hand outbreaks of measles, meningitis, and whooping cough in countries where the routine immunization program still needs strengthening.. Parents need to realize these diseases and others still exist and we do not want to see outbreaks return to our country. I have young nieces and nephews and I want them protected - they are immunized. All children deserve to grow up healthy, free from vaccine preventable diseases.
