I had shingles on my optic nerve and inner ear, leading to Ramsay Hunt Syndrome as well as a chronic pain disorder called trigeminal neuralgia. It has caused lots of complications and daily pain for 8 years now. I didn't get the vaccine prior to this. Had heard about it, but had lots of other things going on, so I kept putting it off. Plus, Medicare didn't pay for it back then. I encourage everyone I know to get the shot now.
