As a nurse in a rural community, I see how pertussis can ravage little ones who are unvaccinated. And in a nearby town, an infant died from pertussis before they saw their 5th week of life. I advocate for immunization because no family should suffer this (or any vaccine-preventable illness) when modern science has given us safe, effective, and readily available vaccines.
