As an RN working on a covid unit I see the consequences of this every day. I had covid-19 in the Spring, and it was a miserable experience. Patients have been admitted with recurrences, meaning we don't fully understand the likelihood of becoming infected again. The vaccination is our path forward. Healthcare professionals have an opportunity and obligation to be an example for our patients and the community by rolling up our sleeves and showing that it's safe. When I was offered the chance to be among the first vaccinated at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick yesterday I agreed without hesitation. If everyone eligible for vaccination receives one we can get ahead of this virus and live our lives again.
