Because my dad couldn't. He was infected with polio at age 4, years before Salk changed the world with his vaccine. My father died last year of complications from influenza. Vaccines matter. This photo is of my father and his father, taken by military photographers and used to recruit men and women into service, to gain the best medical care for their polio stricken children.
